The Homeland Security field has become even more important to our nation. Potential attacks underscore the new complexities of achieving security in an open, networked world and the need for employees who can quickly and critically analyze challenges, carefully weigh evidence and effectively communicate all of which are attributes of a liberal arts education.
The I-Fund Homeland Security Initiative was established to assist talented young men and women on I-Fund member campuses interested in pursuing careers that support Homeland Security efforts.
Established in 1999, the I-Fund's National Security Scholars Program (NSSP)
is currently the only program of its kind
in the country, partnering higher education, government and industry in a collaborative effort to address the needs of the national security industry.
The NSSP offers $15,000 scholarships, assistance with national security clearance processing, paid summer internships with government
and private industry plus the opportunity for job placement following graduation. Program is open to students with outstanding academic records.
To date, more than $1,000,000 has been awarded to dozens of students on I-Fund member campuses.
Program investors include: AAI, AT&T, Boeing, Booz Allen Hamilton, CACI, Capstone, CSC, e.magination, General Dynamics, Harris Corporation, Lockheed Martin, ManTech International, Raytheon, SAIC, Serco, Inc., SRA International, and the National Security Agency.
