Directed Scholarships

Named Scholarships

Named Scholarships are an excellent way for business and foundation partners to demonstrate their commitment to higher education and to achieve particular branding or philanthropic goals across the State of Maryland.

A minimum investment of $25,000 is required to create a Named Scholarship, providing a $2,500 scholarship for one student at each I-Fund member college. Named Scholarships are awarded based on demonstrated financial need and, unless otherwise specified, require a minimum 3.0 GPA. Investors at the $25,000 level may identify one additional criterion.

Investor Benefits:

All investors receive profiles of and letters from scholarship recipients, certificate of appreciation, recognition in all college annual reports and I-Fund collateral. Additional benefits accrue to funders as their level of investment grows:

  • At $30,000 investors may select two additional scholarship criteria beyond financial need and GPA and may create collateral material specific to their scholarship for distribution on all member campuses. The I-Fund will also list the organizations employment and internship opportunities on the student page of its Web site.
  • At $40,000 investors may select three additional scholarship criteria beyond financial need and GPA, and may create collateral material specific to their scholarship for distribution on all member campuses. They may also incorporate a formal internship program into their scholarship, which will be promoted at all member colleges. The I-Fund will list the organizations employment and internship opportunities on the student page of its Web site, and it will receive podium recognition at the annual Scholars Reception.

  • At $50,000 investors may select four additional scholarship criteria beyond financial need and GPA, and may create collateral material specific to their scholarship for distribution on all member campuses. They may also incorporate a formal internship program into their scholarship, which will be promoted at all member colleges. The I-Fund will also list the organizations employment and internship opportunities on the student page of its website. Investors will receive podium recognition at the annual Scholars Reception and will have the opportunity to create corporate/collegiate partnerships across geographic markets through The I-Fund’s 35 national network of state and regional associations.

Designated Scholarships

While The I-Fund is committed to providing support for all 10 member colleges, it recognizes that some businesses or foundations may wish to honor institutional allegiances or support a particular college(s). Designated scholarships provide this vehicle. A minimum investment of $5,000 is requested.
